A kitten, left alone in the world after the death of her mother from the aftermath of childbirth, has overcome her mourning by finding comfort and serenity in a… sheep plush.
Fate had certainly not been kind to Mila. As soon as the first moans were emitted, she found herself alone, without brothers or sisters (she was the only survivor of the litter), but above all without the one who had given her life. Her daily struggle to survive her pain was hard, very hard. And those who followed and cared for her during this challenge to adverse fate could only smile at what they saw. The kitten, left at the One Cat At a Time shelter in Quebec, Canada. “She already had a few days but her weight was that of a newborn feline – the volunteers tell – she was immediately placed in an incubator to keep her body temperature high, exactly as her mother’s warm belly would have done. Soon after we began to feed her regularly and assist her on a constant basis”.
Then the turning point, causal but not too much. “In order not to make her feel alone – they continue from the shelter – we decided to put a sheep plush animated by a heartbeat near her”. Mila’s reaction was beyond any wildest expectation. “She crouched and nestled on her, on this sort of surrogate mother – they confirm – whose presence worked as a sedative. Since then she has made a habit of falling asleep leaning against the toy”.
The conquered serenity has allowed Mila to grow in health and in a good mood, continuing to eat with gusto and rest peacefully. “When she became old enough to leave the incubator for good – add the Canadian volunteers – she finally discovered a new world: other felines like her, new stuffed animals and toys”.
Now she has been adopted and, thanks to her new family, she will no longer experience loneliness. In addition to the love of her guardians, she was able to count on a new friendship, that of her with the house dog, Stella. She has also changed her name: Mila, the little and unfortunate Mila, she is no longer here. “Now her name is Kimchi-conclude the volunteers who weaned her happily-and she spends her days playing with Stella, then collapses from tiredness and sleeps on her, exactly as she did with her” mother sheep “at the dawn of life her”.
