The Metaverse remains an unknown sector for most of the population, but in which the giants of technology are already investing even surprisingly large sums to precede their rivals. But which companies have the most patents for the Metaverse? Surprisingly, Meta is not the first.
According to the ranking recently drawn up by the Cyber Creative Institute, in fact, surpassing all other industry giants is LG: the South Korean company may have abandoned the world of smartphones, but it is the most important in the world for the number of patent applications related to the Metaverse. By this we mean the technologies that are used to make the Metaverse, from semiconductors to displays, through complete viewers and other devices.
In second place is Samsung Electronics, which stands out when it comes to chip and display patents. In third place comes Meta, with a decent portfolio of complete devices, including Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro. Huawei amazes everyone and ranks fourth thanks to its patents related to image processing and displays, while in fifth place we find Microsoft. Then we find the following companies: Sony, Intel, Apple and ByteDance (mother of TikTok and company behind the new PICO 4 viewer). Taken together, the top 20 companies in the rankings have filed 7,760 patents for the Metaverse.
Still speaking of this reality, did you know that Tuvalu will be the first state in the Metaverse?
