The Turkish Foreign Ministry has summoned the ambassadors of the 9 countries who have ordered the closure of their consulates in Istanbul “under the pretext of a terrorist attack”. The Ankara media report it.
Ankara’s Interior Minister, Suleyman Soylu, denounced “psychological warfare” against his country. “On the day we announced our goal of attracting 60 million tourists a year, they started a psychological war against Turkey over a Daesh terrorist attack,” Soylu denounced.
On January 30, the US embassy had warned of the risk of possible reprisal attacks for the burning of copies of the Koran in various European cities in connection with requests made by Ankara to allow Sweden and Finland to join NATO.
