Russia is ready to discuss ”a serious peace proposal to end the conflict in Ukraine”. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency, specifying that the proposal must ”take into account the interests of the Russian Federation”.
Russia will return to dialogue with the West when there is a new, “farsighted” leadership there, Lavrov then added, accusing the West of having ”built a wall” and of having ”stopped collaborating with us”. Russia, he continued, ”doesn’t turn the current situation into a tragedy”, but is ”always ready to talk to sane experts”.
According to Lavrov, what is taking place is ”a tragedy for Western civilization, for the Western system of world order, which was based on the principles of globalization proposed by the Americans, which have completely discredited themselves as a non-negotiable system which is not in able to respect and preserve its own principles and the mechanisms imposed on all others”.
