Russian support for war in Ukraine wanes. According to a confidential survey commissioned by the Kremlin, reports the independent site Meduza, i55% of Russians are in favor of peace talks and only 25% support the continuation of the conflict. In July, the same type of poll reported only 30% in favor of negotiations. Two sources close to the presidential administration told Meduza that, faced with the result, the Kremlin intends to limit open polls on public moods regarding the war.
The results of the confidential survey coincide with that of the independent Russian polling center Levada, with 57% in favor of negotiations and 27% in favor of continuing the conflict. According to the director of Levada, Denis Volkov, public opinion has changed after the mobilization on 21 September, because citizens do not want to get directly involved in the conflict.
