Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made a surprise visit to soldiers on the front line in Donbass. “Next time we will meet in our Ukrainian Donetsk and Luhansk, and I’m sure, also in Crimea,” Zelensky said in a recorded message in front of a large yellow-blue sign indicating that it was located in Sloviansk, 40 km from Bakhmut, the city under Russian siege for months.
The visit coincides with the day of the armed forces, in what is considered the hottest front of the war. Once again, Zelensky goes to the soldiers near the fighting area, while Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet done so.
The Kremlin leader appeared in a video yesterday driving a car on the Crimean bridge, but he has never traveled to the occupied areas since the February 24 invasion. The Kremlin recently announced that Putin will go to Donbass “in due course”.
