The launch of the first TikTok Creator Fund dates back to 2020, but last March the Chinese social network (re) presented the initiative to improve revenue for content creators present on the platform. But what are the requirements required by TikTok to join the Creator Fund?
The purpose of the TikTok Creator Fund, also called the TikTok Creativity Program, is to pay popular users for their content, in order to encourage the continuous publication of videos and posts on the social network and, probably, also to prevent unwanted migrations to other platforms, such as Instagram and YouTube. Overall, the fund, which is gradually opening up to more and more users through an invitation system, is equal to well over a billion dollarswhich will be given to creator Worldwide.
The first requirement to join the Creativity Program, as many expected, is to have an already consolidated following on the platform: this means having at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 views on their videos in the last 30 days. THE creator who will not reach even just one of these two requirements will not be able to obtain the benefits connected to the fund.
Secondly, i creator they will also have to make a number of videos longer than one minute to be accepted into the program. This is an interesting move for the ByteDance social network: already in February, TikTok had asked for “long” videos, i.e. lasting more than 60 seconds, from its users, testifying how the platform is slowly transitioning towards the use of content of longer duration.
In parallel to the Creativity Program, however, the TikTok Creator Fund will not be cancelled, but will remain active. However, it is not clear how (and if) the functioning of the two funds will overlap, nor do we know how the money of these two projects will be managed: one of the great criticalities of the first Creator Fund, explains The Vergewas precisely the fact that, according to several creatorthe extra fees were handled incorrectly by TikTokwhich rewarded even the most viral videos with a few additional dollars in earnings.
