The suspected ‘mole’ who put the Pentagon in crisis by spreading online hundreds of classified and top secret documents on Washington’s plans for Ukraine is only 21 years old. Jack Teixeira arrested this afternoon by FBI agents in his Massachusetts home where he lives with his parents, enlisted in the Massachusetts Air National Guard in September 2019 where he reached the rank of first class airman.
He works as a Cyber Transport Systems Specialist, a job the Air Force describes as being responsible for the proper functioning of the “extensive, global communications network.” He also earned the Air Force Achievement Medal for his service. But precisely this role would have allowed Teixeira to have access to highly sensitive documents.
In private life, according to the reconstructions of the New York Times, the young airman would be the leader of a group of a small online group of young people united by a passion for weapons, video games and racist ‘memes’. And the dissemination of the documents would have started from the private chat of this group with Teixeira’s intention of making herself beautiful with his friends.
