The optional Windows 11 update KB5020044 has proved to be very useful for PC gamers by fixing many gaming-related issues. However, it is not free from unpublished defects: Microsoft has confirmed that this Preview Update makes the Task Manager partially unreadable.
Reports from users who own systems with Windows 11 22H2 installed have arrived in these days and, fortunately, in this case Microsoft very quickly recognized the existence of a bug that shows strange colors in the Task Manager panel UI: “After installing KB5020044, Task Manager may display some user interface (UI) elements with unexpected colors. On affected devices, Task Manager should function as expected, but some parts of the user interface may not be readable”explains the staff of the company.
In addition to this statement, the US company has decided to provide users with a temporary solution, which is actually very simple: to mitigate the problem, you need to go to System Settings, then to Personalization > Colors and choose a mode between Light and Dark. The bug, in fact, would only manifest itself on systems with this setting set to the “Custom” item.
This interim fix seems to have solved the problems of many users, but the manifestation of the bug on other systems should not be excluded. In that case, you need to wait for the next Patch Tuesday in December 2022 or roll back to the previous update.
Speaking of the same operating system, a new indicator arrived in the system tray at the end of November.
