The launch of Xiaomi 13 was set for tomorrow, Thursday 1 December, but it seems to have been postponed until the last minute. The decision of the Beijing manufacturer does not depend on technological problems related to its new top-of-the-range smartphones, but on death of former Chinese President Jiang Zeminwhich took place today, Wednesday 30 November.
The announcement came from Xiaomi itself, which with a post on Weibo explained that the launch of Xiaomi 13 has been postponed at a date yet to be determined. In all likelihood, however, Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Ultra will still see the light of the Chinese market by the end of December or, at the latest, at the beginning of next year. It is unclear whether the delay will also affect the western release of the three smartphones.
At the same time, too iQOO has postponed the launch of iQOO 11, its new flagship smartphone series, and iQOO Neo 7 SE. In this case, however, the news affects European consumers and enthusiasts much less, given the lack of notoriety of the sub-brands of I live in the West. Even iQOO, however, has not provided a new launch date for its flagship phone.
Jiang Zemin served as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China from 1989 to 2002 and President of the People’s Republic of China from 1993 to 2003. Zemin died of leukemia in Shanghai, aged 96. He is considered one of the most important leaders of contemporary China: he continued Deng Xiaoping’s reforms, which led the country towards a market economy close to capitalism, he was one of the creators of the socialism with Chinese characteristics which still today distinguishes the Asian country.
Again under Zemin’s leadership, various important events for Chinese politics took place, such as the restitution of Hong Kong to China from the United Kingdom, in 1997, and that of Macao from Portugal, in 1999. In July 2011, the news of Zemin’s presumed death spread through the Hong Kong media: only three months later, in October of the same year, the news turned out to be false, with the Zemin’s participation in a public event organized by the CCP.
