These are days of great sadness in Merlo, a town near Buenos Aires, Argentina. Here lived Osito, a dog who for years accompanied the police (first local and then departmental) in their patrolling operations.
Osito died in recent days. He had been saved many years ago by some agents, who had noticed him on the street when he was in very bad condition. The cops had taken him to the police station, fed him, and fixed him up. The name by which he became famous in the town was given to him by them.

Back in force, the dog had become an inseparable patrol companion, first at the local police and then at the local police station. Even in recent times, when he no longer had much energy, he still continued to go out with his human colleagues and then went back to rest together with the other police dogs.

Many agents wanted to express their pain and greet Osito one last time through social networks. Melanie left a particularly poignant message: “Rest in peace my friend. With all of us you have been faithful. In the heat, in the cold, you have been with us always and in any case. You should have been eternal. We will miss you forever”.
